During last night’s interview with Sandy Clough, I jokingly accused the Denver Post’s Mark Kiszla of stealing my idea of the Nuggets trying to acquire Marc Gasol way back when. Apparently the joke is on me…
I received an email this morning from the always supportive Kiszla noting that he had written about the Nuggets possible acquisition of the younger Gasol in May of 2008, and thus I was off-base to suggest I had suggested a Gasol acquisition first. Convinced that I had raised the Gasol issue here at Denver Stiffs before that time, I looked back into my own archives and found that I first advocated for a Gasol deal in July of 2009 when he was coming off a so-so rookie year. In other words, I was off by a year. I was confusing my advocacy for the acquisition of Gasol with my advocacy for the acquisition of Joakim Noah in the wake of the Marcus Camby trade, which I first raised in May of 2008. Kiszla beat me to the punch on that one, too, raising the possibility of an Noah acquisition in 2007.
Hopefully Mark Kiszla will accept my sincere apologies and continue to be a strong supporter of our cause here at Denver Stiffs. And maybe instead of re-signing Mark Warkentien or Rex Chapman, the Nuggets should give Kiszla a shot at the GM position. He's clearly been ahead of the curve for some time.
