The Denver Nuggets got a big win against the Boston Celtics on Friday night, 96-92. Unfortunately, however, there was a cloud hanging over Pepsi Center throughout most of the game. Late in the second quarter, Kemba Walker went after a loose ball with his head down and collided with the chest of Semi Ojeleye. Walker immediately collapsed to the court and stayed there for several minutes until a stretcher carried him away. It was a scary sight for all who were watching, as a head and neck injury of any kind is never good.
After the game, Jamal Murray was interviewed and took the time to let Walker know that the team’s thoughts were with him in his recovery. It was a great gesture by Murray, who hit a couple of really clutch shots for the Nuggets to keep the Celtics from competing their comeback.
Fortunately, as Shams Charania reported later that night, early tests have not indicated anything serious.
It’s moments like these that remind us that the game in which we get so much enjoyment from, is in fact just a game. It’s also a reminder that the league truly is made up of players that care for one another’s well being, as any injury and hardship that a player goes through touches all of the players around the league.
All of Nuggets Nation is sending out their thoughts and well wishes to Walker, hoping that he can return to the court as soon as possible.
