It’s never fun when your season ends in a sweep, but for the Denver Nuggets, there’s a lot to be optimistic about. The tail end of the season was plagued by injuries, including a devastating one to Jamal Murray, and this inevitably played a big part in the team not advancing past the Western Conference Semi-Finals despite their championship aspirations. However, while this season did not go as planed, the team still has all of the pieces that lead many to believe they could go all the way prior to Murray’s season-ending ACL injury in April. This optimism seems to be shared by the players, as many of them took to social media to not only express regret that the season ended the way it did, but to look forward to what the future for this team holds.
Monte Morris sent out the below tweet in which he acknowledges the strong emotions that accompanied the end of the season, while looking forwarding to his fifth season in the NBA.
It’s possible that this past season was Paul Millsap’s last on the Nuggets, and if that is the case, fans should feel nothing but grateful that Millsap helped this team go from the lottery, to a playoffs team, to a contender.
Facundo Campazzo sent out the below tweet that translates to the following: “My first NBA season is over. Thanks to all those who made the stop so many nights in Argentina. I can’t wait for the next season to start!”
Will Barton was forced to once again enter the playoffs while battling an injury. He was able to come back for the team’s final three games, but he admitted that he was not at 100% after sustaining a significant hamstring injury before the end of the regular season. Despite his bad luck with injuries at the worst possible times, Barton took to Instagram to let fans know that the best days of his basketball career lie ahead.
Austin Rivers, who was brought to the team in April following the string of injuries to the team’s guards, came to social media to reflect on his run with his new team and express gratitude for the opportunity that he was given after being inactive for a month. Rivers also made sure to shout out his love for the city of Denver.
This season was full of ups and downs for the Nuggets, but if the team can get healthy and the stars can align for a title run next season, then all of the challenges will be worth it.
