On Monday, the Denver Nuggets took on the Toronto Raptors in Calgary to tip off their preseason. The team was participating in the NBA’s annual Canada Series, their first time doing so. This proved lucky for Nuggets rookie point guard Jamal Murray, who got to return home. Well, kind of. Interestingly enough, Murray, who was born and raised in Kitchner, Ontario, had never actually been to Calgary before. However, based on the photo and caption below, he still considers Calgary as home.

It’s pretty cool that Murray got to not only tip off the preseason in his home country, but got to tip off his career there, as well. He played solid in that game, scoring 9 points on 3/5 shooting. However, he made much more of an impact last night against the Los Angeles Lakers, coming alive in the fourth quarter to allow his team to come back and get the win. Despite having a better showing in Los Angeles than in Canada, there’s a very strong possibility that Murray will remember that first game much better in the years to come. After all, it was his first taste of official NBA action, and it took place in the country in which he learned to play the game.
Next, the Nuggets take on the Lakers again in…Ontario, CA? Unfortunately for Murray, this is in California, not Canada. Still, let's hope he has another solid performance and shows even more of the poise and confidence that we have already seen from him early this preseason.
