Why do bad things happen to good people? That’s the question Jamal Murray was probably asking himself when news broke that Gordon Hayward had sustained a broken left hand against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Murray expressed his sadness over the situation in a tweet directed to Hayward, but offered words of encouragement to the former all-star.
Hayward is no stranger to recovery after suffering a gruesome leg injury two years ago that forced him to miss the entire 2017-2018 season. This injury is not nearly as serious, as Hayward should only have to miss about six weeks. Still, it has to be extremely frustrating for Hayward to be sidelined now, after getting off to a great start this season. Hayward struggled to say the least in his return to the court last season after coming back from his injury, so it was a great sign that he was starting to look more like the Utah Jazz Gordon Hayward.
Alas, we will just have to wait a little bit longer in order to continue watching Hayward get his groove back.
