It’s not a secret that this has not been a good week for the Denver Nuggets. After months of holding the 8th and final spot in the Western Conference, a three-game losing streak has found the Nuggets in a less than ideal situation heading towards the last 7 games of the season. It all started with getting blown out by the New Orleans Pelicans before losing a must-win game against their division rival Portland Trail Blazers. The loss was enough to put a wrench in the hearts of Nuggets fans everywhere, as it looks like the Blazers are solidifying their hold on the golden ticket to the postseason while the Nuggets appear to be doomed for another year of not making it to May.
Still, there is something to say for facing challenges with a sense of determination. Especially for a young team, this stretch could end up testing the toughness and will of the players. If you don’t believe me, just ask Jamal Murray.
Murray seems to recognize the benefit of facing adversity with a positive attitude. Because he is right, after all. Sure, the Nuggets face an uphill battle from this point forward, and their loss against the Charlotte Hornets Friday night does not help the situation. But it’s good to know the players have not lost hope yet. Even if the Nuggets fall short in their playoff run, being relevant this late in the regular season is only going to help improve the team going forward.
Who said making the playoffs in the Western Conference with a young and inexperienced team that’s suffered their fair share of injuries and controversy would be easy? But the fight could be exactly what helps take this team to the next level in the seasons to come.
