The last time Nikola Jokic was on the court for the Denver Nuggets, fans were petrified. I don’t think it would be too much of an exaggeration to say some saw the season flash before their eyes. When the Joker left the floor with an injury that looked pretty serious, who would have thought just 3 games later he would record his first triple-double and carry the team to a win over the talented and young Milwaukee Bucks squad? Who was at the receiving end of the 10th assist for Jokic last night? You guessed it. None other than the Manimal.
This was a moment many Nuggets fans are going to remember for a long time. It’s the first of many triple-doubles for their star player and the moment was pretty special to watch. I loved seeing Kenneth Faried’s excitement, as well as every player on the bench, when he slammed home the dunk and got Jokic his 10th assist. They all knew what just happened and were psyched to see their teammate achieve such a great accomplishment. What obviously makes it all the more sweet is the fact the Nuggets were able to pull out the game, in large part due to Jokic’s monster stat-line of 20 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Now let’s just hope Faried doesn’t hurt Jokic by jumping on his back…we know you’re excited, Manimal, but he is the new face of the franchise after all. You break him, there will be no forgiveness.
