The Denver Nuggets have come a long way in the span of a couple of months. They have managed to find themselves with the 8th spot in the Western Conference, an impressive feat considering where this team was earlier in the season before the lineup change. Denver seemed destined to suffer through another season of pointless basketball games that do not matter. The Nuggets have turned things around, however, and now every game is highly important in the goal of reaching the playoffs – something Nuggets fans haven’t felt for a while. One of the biggest factors in this turnaround? How the Nuggets have played at home. Malik Beasley has noticed the trend.
Preach, Malik. The Nuggets have been unstoppable at home lately. In their five-game winning streak at home, they have averaged a whopping 123.6 points a game. And it’s not just that they’re winning these games – most of them have been beatdowns. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 16.6 points a game in this stretch. Three of these wins have been against playoff teams and one of the wins includes a 140-112 beating of the Indiana Pacers in London – the game that started off this win streak, ironically enough.
The Nuggets have now found themselves with a winning record at home at 12-11. If they can win at least half their games on the road the rest of the season and keep up the outstanding play at home, the NBA should see the Nuggets back in the playoffs for the first time in four years. It’s official – the Pepsi Center has something to be excited about once again and Beasley has reason to keep up those celebrations on the bench.
