Malik Beasley is back in a Nuggets uniform for the rest of the season after his latest stint with the Sioux Falls Skyforce D-league team. This season, Beasley played a total of 16 games for the Skyforce and averaged 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds while shooting 45.8 percent from the field. What’s almost as impressive is that the team went 11-5 with him on the squad.
If you think for a second that because of this great production, Beasley resents the Nuggets for continuously sending him down to the D-League rather than play him more minutes on the Nuggets, think again. The purpose of the D-League is to help aspiring players get better, and Beasley not only acknowledges that purpose but has fully benefited from it.
It would be easy for a player like Beasley, who clearly has the talent to make it in the NBA, to feel sorry for himself for his lack of playing time in his rookie season. But it appears as though he feels the opposite and is grateful for the opportunity to get playing time anywhere. His enthusiasm on the bench watching his teammates play obviously carries over into every aspect of his life, and I for one am looking forward to seeing him in a Nuggets uniform for many more years to come.
