Monte Morris has missed the last 11 games for the Denver Nuggets with a left quadriceps strain. As every Nuggets fan knows by now, Morris being out for an extended amount of time is extremely uncharacteristic for the backup point guard. That is probably why it was extremely evident on social media this week that Morris is very eager to return to action.
First, on Monday morning, Morris tweeted this, hinting that he was very close to recovering from his injury.
A day later, after the Nuggets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, Morris expressed, with the help of a photo, his feelings of excitement about playing again.
Two days later, Morris confirmed in a revealing post that he was indeed planning on making his return to the court this Sunday, when the Nuggets face off against the Orlando Magic.
Morris’ impact should be felt immediately upon his return. Facundo Campazzo has put together some very strong performances in his absence, but there’s no denying that Morris seems to be the glue that holds the bench unit together. With Paul Millsap recently moving to the bench after the Nuggets traded for Aaron Gordon, it will be nice for the bench to start solidifying roles to prepare for the playoffs.
Hopefully Morris will be just what the bench unit needs in order to elevate this team to an even higher level.
