I think we can all relate to the feeling of being excited for something, only for that thing that we’re so excited about never to come to fruition. This must have been what Monte Morris went through on Monday night. Shortly before tip-off, the Denver Nuggets announced their starting lineup for their matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Due to the fact that Gary Harris was unavailable to play, Monte Morris earned the starting spot and was set to be a starter for only the second time this season. However, as we all know by now, that game was postponed shortly before tip-off due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Unfortunately for Morris, he missed out on a starting opportunity due to this postponement, to no fault of his own, or the Nuggets for that matter.
Morris’ teammate, R.J. Hampton, decided to join in on the action on Twitter as well with this comment regarding the missed opportunity:
Fortunately for Morris, his outstanding play this season will undoubtedly earn him more opportunities as a starter this season when injuries do arise. He has proven to be one of the most consistent players for the team as the backup point guard. Depending on how long Harris will be out for, it’s possible Morris will slide into the starting lineup sooner rather than later.
