The Denver Nuggets flew all the way to London in order to participate in the NBA Global Games, ending with a matchup against the Indiana Pacers. The entire week, from arrival to exit, was full of activity leading up to Thursday night’s game in which the Nuggets won big, 140-112. The team seemed to enjoy all of the events of the week, and many of them took to Twitter to share their experiences with fans.
Let’s take a look at the tweet(s) of the week we fancied most.
Jet lag apparently set in early for Juancho Hernangomez as the team prepared for their nine-hour flight Sunday night.
When in Europe, it’s important to be fashionable. Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried and Emmanuel Mudiay got some custom suits made to ensure they would be styling while in London.
I’m sure this was the coolest thing about the trip for a lot of the Nuggets. On Tuesday, the team visited the Emirates Stadium to receive a tour by the members of the Arsenal football club, including Per Mertesacker, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding. They got a chance to interact with these players while touring the third-largest football stadium in England and even received their own personalized jerseys. Some of the football players then attended the Nuggets-Pacers game to experience some basketball. Very cool to see these professional athletes mingling with one another and getting to experience the others’ worlds for a little bit. Looks like some of them are already considering a career change…
Many Nuggets shared this team picture taken during the week. Very few NBA teams have gotten to experience an opportunity like this, so it’s pretty special to capture it with this picture of the whole team in front of some beautiful London structures.
Charity work doesn’t stop just because you leave the continent. The Nuggets took advantage of the opportunity to give back to a hospital in London, making care packages and writing letters to the patients.
Jamal Murray had some fun on Twitter using some British lingo to tweet his pleasure in the Nuggets’ win over the Pacers.
The good thing about blowout wins is every player can get into the action a little bit. Malik Beasley was inserted into the game late in the fourth quarter and put up four points in three minutes. Let’s hope Beasley is right and the Nuggets can carry this success over to the states.
The game Thursday night was full of stars, including many past NBA legends such as Isiah Thomas. Thomas had some interesting insight while on the Nuggets’ broadcast -praising Nikola Jokic and even comparing him to Magic Johnson!
Mudiay showed his appreciation to all of the fans that showed up to watch the game. Many of these fans probably traveled quite a distance just to get their first taste of live NBA basketball. The Nuggets definitely fed off this energy, and they certainly seemed grateful for the support.
All good things must come to an end. The Nuggets shared this picture of Gallinari enjoying a buffet of treats on the flight back home. Until next time, London!
