10 years ago, the Denver Nuggets faced off against their division rival, the Utah Jazz, in the first round of the 2010 NBA playoffs. If Nuggets fans recall, that series did not turn out favorably for our team, as they ultimately fell to the Jazz in six games. Arguably the three best players on that Jazz team were Deron Williams, who averaged 25.8 points a game in that series, Carlos Boozer, who averaged 22.5, and our own Paul Millsap, who was 24 years old at the time. Millsap averaged 17.3 points and 9.8 rebounds a game to help his team advance to the second round as a fifth seed.
On Twitter, Paul Millsap decided to pay pay tribute to two of his former teammates on that team by posting this throwback photo and caption:
Interestingly enough, the 2009-2010 season was the last time these three were teammates, as Carlos Boozer was involved in a sign-and-trade that summer that sent him to the Chicago Bulls. It’s hard to believe that this was 10 years ago, and that Millsap is still producing at the level that he is 10 years later for the Nuggets.
Hopefully when the league returns to action and the Nuggets make another appearance in the playoffs, Millsap can continue to make up for the pain that he caused Nuggets fans back in 2010 when he played for the bad guys.
