For the second season in a row, the Denver Nuggets played on one of the biggest stages in basketball. It seems that one of the most exciting playoff runs in recent history in the previous season earned the team the opportunity to play on Christmas. Due to the fact that the NBA only picks match-ups for December 25th that they think will garner a lot of interest from fans, teams and players consider it an honor when they are granted the opportunity to play on this stage. Paul Millsap, a 14-year NBA veteran, knows this better than anybody. He took to Twitter on Christmas to express gratitude for this opportunity that, unless your name is LeBron James, is anything but a guarantee every year.
For Nuggets fans especially, it is certainly a treat when we get to watch our team play on Christmas Day. To have this pleasure two years in a row should not be taken for granted. What makes this even sweeter is the fact that the Nuggets faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team they stunned last season in the playoffs after erasing a 3-1 deficit. Despite the fact that the Nuggets had a rough showing and were not able to win the rematch, it’s still nice knowing that the team continues to climb the ranks of relevancy in the league.
Let’s hope that the Nuggets playing on Christmas becomes a holiday tradition.
