Paul Millsap has put on quite the showing since the all-star break. On Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Millsap made a few key plays on both ends of the court to allow the Nuggets to fend off OKC, who had been able to come back from an 18-point deficit to actually take a three-point lead in the fourth quarter. Millsap, being the savvy veteran that he is, made sure that comeback would end in disappointment. He made big play after big play on Tuesday. Whether it was the assist to Jamal Murray, who hit a three to regain the lead, or the put-back under the rim that helped stem the tide of the Thunder’s run…Millsap was doing it all.
While all those plays were vital to the Nuggets getting the win, none were more highlight worthy than his block against MVP candidate Paul George. George was headed towards the basket for what would have been his easiest shot all night, but Millsap swatted it away when it reached the climax. The Nuggets would then swat away the Thunder’s hopes at defeating the home team. Check out the clip of Millsap’s block below, posted in a tweet by NBA on TNT.
This was definitely one of the biggest moments of the game, and it goes a long way in summarizing why Millsap is such an important part to this team. George may end up with the MVP award at the end of the season, but Millsap has definitely proven valuable to the Nuggets.
