With the 11th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft the Indiana Pacers select Myles Turner, Power Forward/Center Texas.

I decided to go Best Player Available for a team that may be looking for a lot of front court help this offseason. Both David West and Roy Hibbert have player options for next year and behind them, there is not much depth on this team. Larry Bird has also stated this offseason that he would like to see the Pacers become more athletic. Turner would be a much better option than either of the slow footed options listed above, and would add a true "stretch 4" to this team. Most will forget that coming into this season, Turner was the no. 2 player in the country coming out of high school. Turner also had some very impressive per-40 minute stats, that would put him on par with some of the top players in this years draft:
Turner: 18.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 blocks
Karl Anthony-Townss: 19.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, 4.4 blocks
As you can see, Miles not only put up some impressive offensive stats, but also was one of the best rim protectors in the country. Having a player that can both protect the rim, and stretch the defense is a very valuable and rare combo in today's NBA.
With all these fancy stats, also brings some concerns and why this type of talent will still be available at 11. Turner does have range out to the three point line, his 2-point FG% was low for a player at almost 7-feet tall (51%). Another concerning stat is his extremely low steal rate. While post players will never lead the league in steals, Turner was only able to able to come up with 10 steals during his entire freshman season. Finally, Turner will have to put in some major time in the weight room in order to deal with the physicality and grind that is the NBA. Most will point the LaMarcus Aldridge as a pro comparison, but Aldridge benefited greatly from a sophomore season at Texas that Turner will never have.
When looking at Myles Turner, you will see the highest selected boom or bust prospect in this years draft. But it is a chance that the Pacers must take given then desire to want to become more athletic, and with a potential mass exodus of their front court this offseason.
*In honor of this pick Larry Bird's corn farm opened up business with the state of Texas, but they taxed them at an astronomical rate*
