In this episode, I share my notes on game three of the first round series between the San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets. At the center of the episode was the absolute dominate performance by Derick White, who seemed intent to not just out-duel Jamal Murray, but to humiliate him in the process.
I talk about Murray’s two biggest weaknesses – inability to contain dribble penetration and a slow first step on offense – and how White and the Spurs have built an entire game plan around it. I also talk about the continued slump of Will Barton, the impressive play of Malik Beasley, and why there is reason to believe that the Nuggets still have adjustments that they can make to shift this series back in their favor.
The gain was a bit high on this one. Still listenable but the audio quality is a bit below the norm. Apologies! Recording on the road is always tough.
