In this episode of the Locked On Nuggets podcast, I start things off by recapping the preseason loss to the San Antonio Spurs. There were three things that stood out most to me in this game: Denver’s defense, Emmanuel Mudiay’s struggles, and a different rotation. The defense has been one of the major talking points for the Nuggets this season but in this game, they looked every bit as porous as they did last season. The Spurs shot lights out from behind the three-point line early thanks to a lot of busted defensive rotations by Denver and a lot of wide open looks.
Mudiay struggled in what has become a well-known bad lineup for him, alongside Mason Plumlee and Kenneth Faried. I discuss what I expect head coach Michael Malone to do with point guard minutes as the regular season approaches. Lastly, i talk about a strange rotation tonight that may hint at things to come. Kenneth Faried got backup minutes at power forward while Juancho Hernangomez and Trey Lyles barely played at all.
