Seriously, who ya got? As we rapidly approach the NBA Draft (Thursday) I’d like to see every Stiff give me their best guess as to whom the Nuggets will pick. However, I do not want you to give me who you want them to select. Look inside, use your best instincts and read the tea leaves. What do those tell you the Nuggets will do tomorrow?
Me, since I am not a fan of the NBA Draft (I've never been a guy who thrives on looking at someone's potential) my picks tend to be a bit on the cynical side. Not this draft. After doing extensive research, sorting through reams of paper so tall they would crush a man if they fell over I have come to the conclusion that the Nuggets will select Andrew Nicholson with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft. So in essence I agree with my colleague Nate Timmons (aka Miguel Sanchez, aka Dr. Funkenstein, aka Mr. Draft Expertizzo). Nicholson seems to be that "stretch 4" that people look for, and from everything I've seen and heard he possesses a sweet jumper and can learn with no pressure due to the Nuggets' depth.
Let’s face it folks, the draft is a giant crap shoot. There are so many variables that can happen in a players development that can determine if they are legit or fools gold. More often than not, the NBA draft produces solid role players. You have to evaluate talent to the best of your ability at the position you are given. I don’t see the Nuggets trading up because I’m not entirely sure anyone they select would be better than Jordan Hamilton at available positions to move up in.
I may be in the minority here, but I'm excited to see this team … as constructed … grow and develop this next season. I'm looking forward to it too.
