In news that will surely relieve many Nuggets fans: according to Chris Haynes, Aaron Gordon and the Denver Nuggets have agreed to terms on a contract extension. It will involve him picking up his player option for next season, and then signing for the max he can over the three following seasons. His player option is worth 22.8 million dollars, and then he will make on average about 36 million a season after that.

This obviously comes as a welcome sight for the fan base. Aaron Gordon is an incredibly important player and presence in the locker room for the Denver Nuggets. Since being traded to Denver, he’s been nothing but fantastic next to Jokic, Murray, and MPJ. He’s been just as important as anyone not named Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray in that stretch, and it could easily be aruged he’s been the third best Nugget over that time.

With this extension, it locks the team into this team for the next couple of seasons. After hemorrhaging players from the 2023 championship roster, it’s nice to see the front office and ownership finally pony up to pay someone. With the player option being accepted, it will also keep them as a first apron team for next season as well. So overall, it’s a win-win for both sides.
