All-Star weekend was in New Orleans, home of Buddy Hield and the New Orleans Pelicans. The table was set for Hield to snag the MVP of tonight’s BBVA rising star game, a showcase of the league’s best rookie and second year players. Hield got the touches, he got the shots, and he had the crowd (and played very well), but it was Jamal Murray (and Nikola Jokic) who stole the show.
Murray was on fire. Straight fire. He put up a game-high 36 points on 13-19 shooting to go along with a game-high 11 assists. Murray balled out and looked like the best player on the court, especially down the stretch of the 4th quarter. He was 9-14 from behind the arc. You read that right, NINE three-pointers, many of which were a step behind the three-point arc. Equally as impressive is the fact that he did it in just 20 minutes.
Oh, and count Charles Barkley among fellow hall of fame players Isaiah Thomas and Reggie Miller who believe in the young Nuggets.
Check out the highlights and rejoice, Nuggets fans. The Blue Arrow is for real!
