While most of the Denver Nuggets players are getting in some last few workouts before training camp, Juancho Hernangomez is already playing competitive basketball at a very high level. Hernangomez is obviously participating in Eurobasket for his home country Spain, the favorites to win it all, and he’s not just there to be a practice body like he was in 2015. Juancho is a mainstay in Spain’s rotation this year in Eurobasket and he’s been contributing. He had a big breakout game against Romania where he tallied a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Hernangomez’s performance was filled with highlight dunks as he showed off the athleticism he seems to be gaining with added muscle (Juancho has been the top poster boy for the Nuggets #Musclewatch2017). The display of athleticism should be encouraging for Nuggets fans, Denver will likely need Juancho to play more minutes at small forward than he did last season and athleticism is one area he can improve to make him more effective at that position. While Romania certainly doesn’t bring the level of competition an NBA team will, it’s encouraging to see these highlights out of Juancho nonetheless. Take a look!
