January 2, 2020 will now be known as Michael Porter Jr. day.
Why? Because, Porter put together the best performance of his career on Thursday night in Indiana. Porter scored a career-high 25 points on an almost perfect 11-of-12 shooting from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
That shot is a great representation of what Porter did all night long. The Pacers had zero answers when it came to slowing Porter down as the Nuggets star rookie helped carry Denver to victory.
It was not just scoring the basketball as Porter also hauled in five rebounds and dished out an assist. Porter posted his highest +/- of the season with a +13 and put together some really solid minutes defensively.
Another stat of note was Porter played 22 minutes, which was the second highest mark of his career. In the Kings game last Sunday, Porter played 26 minutes and put together a very solid performance, similar to the one we saw Thursday night.
Coming into the Pacers game, Porter’s previous career-high was 19 points, which occurred in that same Kings game. In that game, Porter drew his first career start, which is why his performance against Indiana is even more special as all his minutes came off the bench.
Porter has been playing incredibly confident as of late and finally seems to be finding his rhythm with the Nuggets, which should be a scary sight for every other team in the NBA.
