I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Rudy Gobert is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. He had a good game tonight against the Nuggets with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and most importantly a win for Utah.
But Nikola Jokic put up 28 points, snagged 21 rebounds, and had six assists and a pair of steals tonight in 37 minutes as Denver fought to the wire despite off nights from several key players. It’s his second 20 / 20 game of the season and coming against Gobert makes it more impressive. The Nuggets did not have their A game tonight, and strangely neither did Jokic, who went just 1 for 7 from three point range and had 5 fouls. But he still logged an impressive performance in a playoff atmosphere – and just the kind of thing Denver will need from him once April does roll around.
