Denver Post columnist Mark Kiszla discussed the importance of Nene to the Nuggets and even agreed with me that Nene is a serious candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year.
And while I also agree with Kiszla that Nene is probably the Nuggets most valuable player aside from Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony I don't agree with his point here:
… it would be wise for the Nuggets to make a trade to bring Nene some meaningful help at center, even if it means trading Linas Kleiza or J.R. Smith.
Why is a deal so necessary?
The Nuggets have proved they can win, at least for the short term, in the absence of Anthony.
On this team, Nene is irreplaceable.
I do not think it would be in the best interest of the Denver Nuggets to trade away JR Smith in almost any deal. His offense is too important to the team. Kleiza to me is a bit of a different story, but again I don't ship him out for anybody.
I was surprised to see JR's name brought up, but I realize in order to improve you have to give up something to get something. I also realize that Kiszla's opinion means nothing in terms of JR actually getting moved, just shocked it'd be discussed.
I think JR is too young and has too much potential to include in almost any deal.
