As a freshman at Florida State, Malik Beasley made headlines for his athleticism and ability to score at the rim and behind the three-point line. He averaged over 15 points per game with remarkable efficiency, shooting 47.1% from the field and 38.7% from behind the arc. Heading into the draft, a stress fracture in his right leg took away some of the momentum that he had built early in the season and luckily for the Denver Nuggets, Malik was still available at 19 in this summer’s NBA draft.
Malik is also an incredibly affable and well-spoken guy with a colorful family of actors and bright personalities. Malik joined me on Thursday after practice for an excellent conversation about his family, his upbringing, his college experience, the NBA draft, and his experience in the first month of his NBA career. It’s a very fun and insightful conversation that hopefully provides fans with a glimpse of his personality and experience.
