Tony Romo, who recently retired from the NFL after a career playing quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, will be in a Mavericks uniform, on the Maverick bench, for a Mavericks regular season NBA game on Tuesday.
The Nuggets are playing the Mavericks on Tuesday on the road, in the final home game for the Mavericks. Romo, who started 10 seasons for the Cowboys, will be a “Maverick for a day” according to ESPN reporter Marc Stein.
This is wild.
Romo played high school basketball, earning all-state honors his senior year while averaging 24 points a game. He’s shown an interest in Duke basketball, especially of their head coach Mike Krzyzewski, and has attended Blue Devils games in the past.
There’s almost no situation where I can see Romo actually entering the game for the Mavericks. This seems like it is entirely a publicity stunt, and shouldn’t impact the game in any way. Dallas fans will likely go crazy seeing Romo in person though – he’s a very popular figure in the area.
It’s pretty crazy that someone was able to skip the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and go straight to NBA Regular Season game.
