Nuggets post season low point total in loss to Nets
Let's look at the score again … 114-70. Wow. A 44-point loss to the Nets (24-27) on Saturday Feb. 7 in New Jersey. I guess everyone knows there are games where nothing goes right and you get blown out, but this one was ugly.
I was unable to watch the game live so I was planning on catching the replay at 9:00 p.m. mountain time. I made sure to notify all my Nugget fan buddies that I would not be watching the game live and asked them to not text me anything during the game. So about 7:00 p.m. mountain I get a text from a random friend telling me the Nuggets are not doing so hot. I was blindsided. I'd made it an hour and a half and suddenly had a text from an unlikely source telling me the team wasn't doing well!
I felt like Jerry Seinfeld in the episode where he taped the Met game … answered the phone asking people not to tell him about the game and then Kramer storms into the apartment and spoils the ending for Jerry.
A few minutes later I got a call from my boy Rory and I knew something was up with the game. So I decided to check the score before I listened to his voicemail. The game was still in the 3rd Quarter and I looked at the scoreboard … I rubbed my eyes and looked at it again. It read 89-54. What the heck happened?!
I picked up my phone and listened to my voicemail searching for answers. Rory basically told me, if I was a fan of the Nuggets then I should stay away from the game. He told me not to watch the horrifying performance … so you know what … I didn't watch it. Not much of it anyway. Just looking at the box score and seeing every player with a negative +/- rating tells the whole story. Seeing the disparity in free throws tells me about which team was more aggressive.
I think the best thing to do is just wash my hands of this game. Try to pretend it never happened and look forward to the game against the Miami Heat tomorrow night.
