Can’t really say much about the Nuggets previous meeting with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nuggets were missing Danilo Gallinari and Andre Iguodala and it was the last game before the All-Star break. That being said, whatever the Nuggets did in that game they shouldn’t repeat. The Nuggets are too good to get down by more than 20 points (Nuggets lost 119-108).
As ever, containing Deron Williams and the three-point shooters of the Nets is imperative. With Ty Lawson likely to sit this game out (we should know more closer to game time) the Andre Miller vs. Williams matchup will be interesting to watch. Primarily because D-Will isn’t quite as speedy as some of the guards the Nuggets have faced the last two games with Andre Miller playing primary minutes.
Also, if the Nuggets can counter the set-shot of Brook Lopez with the steady play of Kosta Koufos and a resurgent JaVale McGee then the Nuggets prospects of winning (particularly at home) got up by quit a bit. Outside of that, this should be a good match up. The Nets have seemed to right the ship of late (for that matter, so have the Knicks) and have won a string of games on their current road trip (in which they are 4-1) including Wednesday night in Portland.
Going to have to be one of those games where the Nuggets fans at Pepsi Center step up and represent. The crowds have been great the last month and this should continue big time. Nuggets need every home game.
Nuggets of Wisdom
Lost in the furor over the last play of the game in San Antonio (Nuggets lose 100-99) was the fact that despite the Nuggets playing with an injured and ineffective Ty Lawson, they probably should have won the game. Plain and simple. Keeping that in mind, after the disaster that was the game against the New Orleans Hornets on Monday playing better feels quite a bit better. If the Nuggets give that sort of effort in this game, good things will happen.
Go Nuggets
