What a week it’s been for Nikola Jokic. On Monday, Jokic helped lead one of the largest comebacks in recent NBA history, rallying back from 25 points down in the 3rd quarter and 14 points down with 7 minutes to go. Jokic hit the game-winning shot over Marc Gasol, one of the league’s best interior defenders, with 38 seconds left.
On Wednesday, Jokic notched his 8th triple-double of the season en route to a comfortable win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
On Thursday, it was announced that Jokic would be an all-star for the first time in his career.
On Friday, Jokic quarterbacked one of the best two-team offensive performances of the season, leading Denver to a 136-122 win over the Houston Rockets, Denver’s first win over the Rockets in 9 tries. Jokic also came up one assist shy of a triple-double, “settling” for 31 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists.
On Saturday, Jokic completed the triple-double, his 9th of the year, as the Nuggets beat their division-rival, Minnesota Timberwolves. The win ensured that Jokic’s head coach, Michael Malone, would be joining him in Charlotte for this year’s all-star game.
Today, to cap it all off, Jokic earned his 3rd Western Conference “Player of the Week” award. Joker joins Giannis Antetokounmpo (6x) and James Harden (3x) as the only players this season to win the award three times or more. Curiously enough, Jokic won the award by more-or-less putting up his season averages.
