If you have DISH, Comcast, or DirectTV, there is a very real chance you have not been able to watch a Nuggets game on Altitude TV this season. That is because “The Big 3” cable companies and Altitude still have not come together on a new contract, which leaves you without Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche hockey on your television screen.
Well, some good news came about on Friday afternoon when Tom Green of 9News announced on Twitter that KTVD — Channel 20 — will televise the Nuggets home opener next Friday night.
This is great news for those who cannot make it to the game and want to watch the Nuggets second game of the regular season. Denver’s home opener comes just two days after their regular season opener, which will be in Portland on Wednesday night. That game will not be on KTVD, but will be televised nationally on ESPN.
With Altitude handling all of the production aspects, the only real thing that changes is what channel the game will be broadcasted on. KTVD is channel 20 for every cable provider, so make sure to tune in when the Nuggets and Phoenix Suns tip off at 7pm MDT from the Pepsi Center next Friday night, October 25th.
While this is a solution for the Nuggets home opener, it seems to be a temporary measure to give Nuggets fans the opportunity to see Denver’s first home game of the season. A partnership with KTVD makes sense to postpone a deal with the Big 3 cable providers but seems unlikely to yield a long term solution. Nuggets fans should continue to prepare for the prospect that games may not be televised going forward.
Still, do your part in thanking KTVD for stepping up in a time of need for Nuggets Nation!
