The Denver Nuggets had until Oct. 31st to decide on the team options for the rookie contracts for the 2014-15 seasons on Kenneth Faried, Evan Fournier, and Jordan Hamilton. Quincy Miller’s three-year deal as a second-round pick does not apply to this situation. The team picked up the fourth year option for Faried and the third year option for Fournier, but declined to pick up Hamilton’s option, a league source told Denver Stiffs.
This means that Hamilton will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and his $1.1 million contract is now an expiring one. Faried will be under contract for the final year of his rookie scale deal at $2.2 million (2014-15) and will have a qualifying offer of $3.2 million; that once extended by the team (summer of 2015), will make him a restricted free agent if the Nuggets are not able to agree to a contract extension with him. Fournier will be under contract for the 2014-15 season for $1.4 million and will have another team option deadline of Oct. 31st, 2014 for $2.2 million.
