The Brooklyn Nets announced today (after a somewhat bizarre courtship) that they have hired Sean Marks as their new GM. Marks will replace Billy King who was restructured within the organization. This news is significant for the Denver Nuggets as their current assistant GM Arturus Karnisovas was also a finalist for the job and had Marks not been offered the position, Karnisovas likely would have been the next choice.
It must be a bittersweet day for Denver’s front office. They in no way tried to prevent Karnisovas from getting a promotion elsewhere and very likely were all rooting for him to get the job. However, with the news that he’s been passed over for Marks the Nuggets will be able to keep their front office intact. Karnisovas of course has been a vital part of the team that has brought over budding international prospects Nikola Jokic, Jusuf Nurkic and Joffrey Lauvergne.
