The Denver Nuggets have officially signed wing scorer Nick Young to an Injury Exception contract.
After experiencing a glut of injuries on the guard and wing spots to Gary Harris, Will Barton, Jamal Murray, and Isaiah Thomas, the Nuggets are bringing in Young, an 11-year vet, to add some offense. Young, who previously played with the Golden State Warriors last season, was unsigned before landing in Denver.
Young is a scoring wing who knows how to light it up from the perimeter. With 1,036 three pointers made in his career on a solid 37.6 percent efficiency, the Nuggets know exactly what they are getting from Young, a veteran with a quick trigger. With so many players going down in recent days, it’s good to see Denver exploring their options and finding a player who has capably contributed to bench offenses previously.
The Nuggets had previously signed G-League standout Brandon Goodwin to an Injury Exception contract, but in order to satisfy the rules of the CBA, the team must cut Goodwin to make room for Young unless they apply for an additional exception.
Either way, the addition of Young will be an interesting one for the Nuggets this year. See the full press release below.
