Kawhi Leonard (hand) is listed as day-to-day, Patty Mills (shoulder) is out. | Injuries | Danilo Gallinari (knee) and JaVale McGee (leg) are day-to-day, Randy Foye (quad) is out. |
San Antonio just dropped a heartbreaker to the Lakers on Friday night. | Etc… | The Nuggets were up on Houston by 14 in the first half last night, but could not hang on. |
The Denver Nuggets limp back to the Pepsi Center for a little home cooking tonight, but do so against the reigning champion San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio has won 7 of their last ten games, and 11 of their last 14. In other words, the Spurs are up to their usual tricks.
The Spurs present a challenge on any evening, but with the Nuggets missing key players in Danilo Gallinari, JaVale McGee, and Randy Foye, along with a ton of sporadic play over the first quarter of the season, Denver has their work cut out for them tonight.
Speaking of injuries and missed games, San Antonio has already had their "primary" crew of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli, and Kawhi Leonard miss nearly 50 total games this season, and still sit in second place in ESPN's Power Rankings this past week. The Spurs are the model many teams in the league wish to fashion themselves after, and Denver is no exception.
Fortunately for the Nuggets, they have often played to the level of their competition, and with last nights’ second quarter meltdown against the Rockets in their rearview mirror, hopefully they’ll come out against the Spurs with some fire in their bellies. They will need it to compete with (and hopefully win against) one of the league’s best squads.
It's a weekend filled with Denver Nuggets basketball, Nuggets Nation! What can Denver improve upon tonight to at least split this Texas twister? How do we beat the champs?
