The Denver Nuggets have two regular season games remaining as they will head to Utah to face the Jazz in a Sunday matinee at 1:30 today. Denver will be back in action for their final regular season game at home tomorrow, which also starts at 1:30 against the Sacramento Kings. After securing the one-seed for the first time in franchise history earlier this week, the Nuggets have been able to give some other players opportunities while their starters rest up and get healthy for the postseason.
I would expect that to stay the same these next two games as we’ll get a heavy dose of role players and young players given an opportunity to show what they are all about. One of the players I’ll be watching most these next two games is Peyton Watson, whose really put together some solid performances over the last few games. After being a somewhat surprise selection by the Nuggets in last years draft, Watson has shown glimpses of why the Nuggets took a chance on him in the first round.
The injury report for both teams is pretty extensive, so the Jazz are in the same boat as Denver in providing younger players an opportunity to play. Utah has already been eliminated from playoff contention and are just playing to finish the season strong after a somewhat surprising year. For a team that was expected to really struggle, the Jazz played much better basketball than everyone was expecting this year and it should make for an exciting game today in Utah.
