Another rough outing for your Denver Nuggets tonight, as they let the game get FAR too far out of hand in the first half to have second half heroics make a bit of difference.
First Quarter
Denver came out with effort, but still looked slow to the ball, and let Portland have most anything it wanted. The Trail Blazers shooting percentage from the floor and from beyond the arc (57% each) almost matched their free throw percentage (60%). Denver down after a quarter, 39-28. At least it can’t get worse.
Second Quarter
It got worse. Across the board. The Nuggets had one of their roughest quarters of the young season, being outscored by double… plus 1. A 45-22 second quarter found the Nuggets headed to the locker room down 84-50.
Third Quarter
Though Denver staunched the Trail Blazers scoring, and went ahead by a decent margin in the third quarter (at one point up by 10), they gave most of it back during another slide, and eked out a 28-27 edge in the quarter. At that rate, we only needed 33 more quarters to tie this thing back up.
Fourth Quarter
Garbage time, and Denver finally had a good run, when the players left knew it was garbage time, and played accordingly. Though the Nuggets outscored Portland by 16 in the frame, they still lost this game 130-113.
More to come soon in a lengthier recap, but… Say what's on your mind, Nuggets Nation.
