The Denver Nuggets had a schedule win tonight and they made sure to make their game just that. Against the worst team in the league, the Utah Jazz, on a back to back the Nuggets kept building their lead and eventually turned the game into a complete laugher in the fourth quarter. Nikola Jokic served up multiple highlight plays while Michael Porter Jr. filled the role of secondary scorer with Jamal Murray sitting this one out. Denver takes care of business and gets a blowout 129-93 victory.
There wasn’t much offense to start the game. It was fast paced but no one could buy a bucket. Denver eventually got going and built a lead. Jokic started taking control and built the advantage even more as the quarter progressed. The Nuggets went on a run and got up by ten with about five minutes left in the quarter. Nikola stayed cooking and the lead stayed growing. When the bench checked in the offense slowed down a bit but it didn’t matter because Utah still couldn’t make a shot. Keyonte George got a couple buckets towards the end of the quarter while the Nuggets blew a few layups. That stopped the bleeding but the Jazz still ended the first quarter trailing 26-15.

Denver’s offense kept humming even with Jokic getting a rest. DeAndre Jordan had a couple alley-oop dunks and a nice block. George kept the game from getting completely out of control though. Utah’s offense definitely ticked up a notch in the second quarter. They mounted a comeback and got within four points to force a Denver timeout. It didn’t help much, the Nuggets continued to turn the ball over but luckily Utah went cold on offense. With about four minutes to go the Nuggets started to gain momentum again. Christian Braun finished a fast break with an alley-oop dunk to put the Nuggets back up by eight. The lead stayed right around there as the half winded down. Jokic hit another ridiculous heave at the buzzer and Denver went to the locker room up 57-47.

The offense slowed down a bit for both sides to open the second half. Denver got a couple baskets working through Nikola while Collin Sexton started knocking down shots on Utah’s side. The Jazz made a mini-run to get closer but then Peyton Watson had a huge sequence with a putback dunk followed by a break-away windmill dunk. The Nuggets started to build their lead while Utah struggled on offense again. Denver pushed it up to sixteen with five minutes to go in the third. The Nuggets kept pushing while the Jazz didn’t know who to turn to for points. Joker pushed the lead up near twenty and it looked like it was going to be an early night for the Denver regulars. Zeke Nnaji put the “nah” in Nnaji with a big block right at the end of third and Denver headed to the fourth leading 89-65.

Denver’s bench unit kept the momentum going to open the fourth and pushed the advantage up near thirty early in the quarter. A Porter three got them there just before the nine minute mark. Porter continued to bury threes and that put away any doubt of a Nuggets victory. A Nnaji three got the lead up near the mid-thirties a third of the way through the final quarter. The bench group had no trouble turning the game over to garbage time. Jalen Pickett had a the highlight of the quarter with a nice pass to DJ for an easy dunk. The deep reserves started checking in around the four minute mark. They wrapped up the blowout and the Nuggets win big, 129-93.
