According to a report by Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, the Denver Nuggets will trade newly acquired Shabazz Napier to the Washington Wizards for shooting guard Jordan McRae.
McRae, 28, is a 6-foot-5, 179 pound shooting guard who has had a breakout season with the Wizards. In 29 games, McRae has averaged 12.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 42.0% from the field and 37.7% from behind the three-point line. The Wizards have struggled this season, but McRae has been one of their bright spots.
After moving Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez to the Minnesota Timberwolves two days ago, the Nuggets needed another wing shooter on their bench to space the floor on occasion. McRae fills that need with flying colors and will fit in well as a reserve going into the All-Star break. With Monte Morris on the roster, it was never feasible to keep Shabazz Napier as a third, maybe even fourth string point guard. The Nuggets did right by him and acquired a really solid shooter in return.
Denver Stiffs will have updates and analysis as they become available.
