According to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic, the Denver Nuggets are expected to sign Tyler Cook to a two-way contract.
Cook joins the Nuggets after spending the past three years at the University of Iowa. When Cook went undrafted last season, the Nuggets signed him to play on their summer league squad. Cook played in three games for the Nuggets in Vegas and averaged 4.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
After a solid summer league, the Nuggets gave Cook a training camp invite before ultimately waiving him. Cook did gain some NBA experience when the Cavaliers signed him and played in 11 games during his short stint in Cleveland.
The Nuggets opened a two-way spot when PJ Dozier was signed to an NBA contact just the other day.
It remains to be seen what Cook’s role could be in Denver going forward, but for now, the Nuggets have added another big body that they are familiar with and will go down to Orlando with a full 17-man roster. Two-way contract players will be allowed to be play in Orlando, so Cook and Bol Bol, Denver’s other two-way player, have an outside shot at seeing some game action.
Welcome back to Denver, Tyler Cook!
