Nuggets look to go 3-0 vs the Rockets this season |
Stat | The Rockets are on a 3 game winning streak since losing to the Nuggets on January 23rd. |
Since the Nuggets and the Rockets have played two previous times (last time exactly a week ago) this will be a fairly short preview. We are quite familiar with the Rockets and the backcourt combination of Jeremy Lin and James Harden.
Of note, two nights ago the Rockets destroyed the Utah Jazz by 45 points 125-80 in Utah (!). So yeah, that happened. The Rockets have won three in a row since losing to the Nuggets in Houston a week ago tonight. The Rockets are playing better and seem to have their offensive groove going, so I would anticipate this to be a much tougher battle for the shorthanded Nuggets.
Harden is always dangerous and can explode for massive offensive numbers on any given night. Lin, while not the player he was during his brief glory in New York with the Knicks, is a capable point guard. Chandler Parsons is probably more talented than he has shown so far this season. Omer Asik is actually a good defensive center who can gobble up rebounds. Faried, Koufos, and Timofey Mozgov must be extra motivated on the boards.
Outside of that, you know the Rockets very well. Game starts at 7pm on Altitude.
Nuggets of Wisdom
The Nuggets have won four games in a row, and their last game against the Indiana Pacers was tough and physical. While the Nuggets may have benefited from a favorable call at the end (maybe) they did acquit themselves nicely against a slow it down team. We saw Gallo step up during the game on the offensive end (yes, Terry Frei, he did drive the paint quite frequently) and become the quarterback of the team during the game. This will be important to watch going forward. Gallo was quite upset (rightfully) at the Nuggets defense during the final six minutes of the Pacers game, lets see if that translates to a more complete performance tonight.
Nuggets need to just keep plugging away and winning ballgames. Keeping pace with the Warriors and the Grizzlies is of utmost importance and dropping games at home is never an option. With Wilson Chandler hurting with a groin – issue – (?) and JaVale McGee out with a – shin (?) it will be incumbent upon the Nuggets to get the best out of Mozgov and a half-speed Chandler.
Go Nuggets!
