Nuggets vs. Raptors
Cox Pavilion – 4:00 p.m. MT
July 18th – today!
Well, we have our first game between the Nuggets and Raptors and there are some interesting story lines brewing …
1.) Masai Ujiri is the GM for the Raptors – news for those of you that have been trapped without TV, radio, internet, friends, family, acquaintances, neighbors, dogs that steal newspapers, and the ability to communicate with others in any manner.
2.) "Power Hungry" Josh Kroenke will surely look to squash Ujiri's squad today. This could be the day we see Kroenke suit up for the Nuggets and run the point for the team – like he did back in the day for the Missouri Tigers.
3.) Eager to “prove his salt”, Tim Connelly is likely looking to make a move or two with other summer league teams to bolster the Nuggets roster today. Watch for Tim to make a trade to bring in a power forward or center who could put the Nuggets over the top against Toronto today – who have Jonas Valanciunas, 20 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in Vegas, patrolling the paint.
4.) Coby Karl is running the point for the Raptors – a move likely made before the Las Vegas session began in anticipation of a Nuggets vs Raptors match-up. Karl will definitely look to get physical on the floor if Kroenke plays to exact a little revenge for George.
5.) Watch the Raptors’ sideline closely. We could see George Karl jump into the fray and coach Toronto in a similar fashion to the “surprise” appearances seen in the World Wrestling Federation (it’ll always be the WWF to me). For a peek at how that could look – check out some similar footage here:
(Some sarcasm for you folks today.)
