In this episode of the Locked On Nuggets podcast, I share my big takeaways from the Denver Nuggets’ first preseason game, a win over the Golden State Warriors. I focus on three players that I thought were the most noteworthy. Paul Millsap was the first player on the docket and the player that I thought stood out the most in this game. I discuss how he was aggressive and plays mistake-free basketball.
I then discuss Nikola Jokic’s poor defensive performance and why I think it will be a big adjustment for him to learn to play alongside Millsap without being too passive. Lastly, I talk about Emmanuel Mudiay who I thought had some rough plays sprinkled into what was an overall very good game. He finished at the rim, shot the ball with confidence, and made some impressive plays with the ball in his hands. Most of all, I thought his defensive focus and energy was great.
Lastly, I share some quick hitters on the game including some notes about the rotation, transition basketball, and Mason Plumlee in a very good role.
