In today’s episode of The Chick N’ Nuggets Podcast, host Jena Garcia digs into the recent player injuries, the upcoming All-Star game, and of course the Royal Rumble between Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid. Both players win NBA player of the month for their respective conferences in the month of January.
Obviously this is not the first time the argument has been about which player is better, Jokic or Embiid, and we know it won't be the last. Jena describes some of the advanced statistics that demonstrate just how similar these two players are and in what areas they differ. In the end both players are having fantastic seasons thus far.
In the combined months of December and January…
- Joel Embiid averaged: 28.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 54.4 FG%, and 40.4 3P%
- Nikola Jokic averaged: 26.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 57.4 FG%, and 38.4 3P%
While Jokic is having a MVP season, the rest of the team is still working to build chemistry. With both Gary Harris and Pj Dozier out with injuries someone will have to step up to fill in some of what is lost on defense. Jena explains just how concerning Gary’s abductor injury is to his performance this season. A look into his past injuries paints a predictable path for the rest of Gary’s season.
