The Denver Nuggets were busy looking at trade opportunities around the entire NBA today, and they have finally settled on a trade.
Denver will send the 13th pick to the Utah Jazz for the 13th pick and power forward Trey Lyles. Denver will select shooting guard Donovan Mitchell and ship him to Utah.
My initial reaction to this trade: the Nuggets got pretty good value here. Trey Lyles is still 21 years old and could potentially be an excellent fit next to Nikola Jokic at the power forward position. Lyles struggled this past year, but he has just as much potential to be a quality stretch 4 next to Jokic as any option in the draft this year. He isn’t the greatest defender, but he has a lot of untapped skills.
More on the trade to come. The Nuggets are currently slotted to pick 24th in the draft this year, and Denver Stiffs will have up to date coverage on all picks tonight.
