It was Halloween night in the big easy and even though the Denver Nuggets did not pick up the victory, there was still a positive to take away and that was the play of Michael Porter Jr.
Will Barton was out because of left toe inflammation, which gave Porter the opportunity to play with the Nuggets second unit. In his first NBA game, Porter made the most of it as he was the Nuggets leading scorer with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, 1-of-3 from three-point range.
That was Porter’s first NBA basket as he scored four points in the first half before scoring 11 points in the final two quarters. A lot of Porter’s point came at the end of the fourth quarter, but even though the Nuggets were trailing by double digits, the Pelicans still left most of their normal starters in the game.
That jumper showcased Porter’s ability as a scorer, which was on full display any time he got the ball in his hands. Porter also hauled in four rebounds and dished out one assist in his 21 minutes of action.
If Porter continues to play like this when given the opportunity, it is going to be hard to keep #1 out of the lineup. To watch the rest of Porter’s night, click the link below!
