There are not a lot of positive takeaways to be had during a four game losing streak, but one player has shined despite the team’s inability to find their groove: the Nuggets have one of the league’s best backup point guards in Monte Morris.
Morris played in 31 minutes of the Denver Nuggets loss at home to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night, and ‘Big Game’ lived up to his nickname. Monte finished with 19 points and 6 assists, showing more of that veteran-like poise despite his neonate status in the league.
When Morris was drafted, there was supposed to be a hard ceiling on his game. Just a game manager, too small to play defense, won’t be able to create for himself at the next level—the list goes on.
So far, through 14 games of the 2018-19 season, Morris has proved the scouts and the doubters wrong. He’s excelled on defense, lived up to his reputation as a game manager, and impressed us with his shot making against the best players in the world.
