The Denver Nuggets were blown out by the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night in what was really a schedule loss as much as anything. The Nuggets were playing their 5th game in 7 nights against a well-rested Warriors team that very well might go down as the best basketball team ever assembled. So while the final score was disappointing, it probably shouldn’t have been surprising.
Two silver linings from the game were the play of Kenneth Faried and Will Barton off of the bench. Both guys seemed to break out of a mini slump, the latter exploding for 21 points including a handful of nifty finishes.
“Thrill” is a big part of what makes Denver tick and when he’s off, the Nuggets tend to lack the one-on-one scoring that is the counter-punch to the team’s pass-happy power punch. So if anything good comes out of a 19 point loss it’s probably that Barton seemed to get going again. Check out the full highlights, including the incredible second quarter run that got Pepsi Center off of their feet.
