Isaiah Thomas could make his season debut on Wednesday night against the Sacramento Kings, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting. Thomas has spent nearly a calendar year recovering from a hip surgery he underwent in March and the former MVP candidate will reportedly decide “early” on Wednesday if he’s ready to make his return against the team that drafted him.
In November of 2018, Wojnarowski reported that Thomas had circled December as the month he hoped to return. That timeline was never endorsed by the Nuggets and Thomas remained on the bench. In January, Woj provided another update, this time reporting that he was planning to make his return in mid-February.
Denver upgraded Thomas to questionable for the first time all season on Tuesday.
The Kings drafted IT back in 2011 and hired Michael Malone as their head coach two seasons later, setting the table for a somewhat poetic return should Thomas indeed suit up on Wednesday night.
