Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports that Nuggets Center JaVale McGee fractured left tibia hasn’t “healed properly” and could very well sit for the rest of the season.
Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee could miss the rest of the season because of a stress fracture in his left leg, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
McGee, 26, has been seeking further medical consultation on the injury, which hasn’t been able to heal properly this season, league sources said.
A final decision on his status could come in the next several day
Indications that McGee may not play have been swirling around Pepsi Center for awhile now, and Woj’s report just confirms that there was reason to think that way. This “may” be a smart move to start with, essentially a completely new team next season with Danilo Gallinari, Nate Robinson and JaVale McGee all ready to start camp.
Stay tuned to Denver Stiffs for the latest when word becomes official.
Update from Nate Timmons:
Check out Matt Moore's piece on JaVale … especially these excerpts:
McGee has been out since November, and there have been rumblings in Denver that his approach to rehab has been less than inspirational. McGee has faced questions regarding his maturity going back to hs time in Washington. In 2012, the Nuggets re-signed McGee to a four-year, $44 million deal.
Interesting stuff.
